Olafur Isaksson is the IT Manager for Anza, an IT outsourcing company based in Reykjavik, Iceland. Olafur's main responsibilities include the running, maintaining and setting up Microsoft servers. These include Windows 2000 & 2003 Servers, Active Directory, Exchange Servers, SQL Servers, IIS Servers and more.
Olafur explains. "We are an IT outsourcing company who take care of everything for our customers. From running a simple website to running every aspect of a company's IT."
Olafur has been helped by Webserver stress tool since October 2004.
"We use it whenever we are making changes to a website, and want to monitor what effects these may have on performance. This may be carried out many times a day, or even for a few days at a time."
Anza work primarily with ASP, and part of their work includes being responsible for running many websites for their clients. Olafur explains that it is important for them to be able to load test a website, before and after any changes are implemented, and to experiment with different IIS setting and SQL indexes. One of his favourite features is the report that the software can create for their clients.
And before using Webserver Stress Tool?
"We tried several other products to load-stress a website, but simply found that the Paessler product gave us by far the best results. It also generates some nice looking and professional reports that we can deliver straight to our customers."
"It's important to have a tool like this to be able to load test a website before and after changes. and also to optimize the performance of a working site. Using Webserver Stress Tool allows us to see how different settings can have sometimes drastic results on the website and how many clients it can support."
When Paessler started developing Webserver Stress Tool, ease of use was given a very high priority, something that Olafur finds extremely useful.
"It's very easy to use, in fact we've had no problems with it at all.
When you're providing a service for other businesses, I think that this is extremely important."
"I wish that more programmers would use a tool like this, to see how a poorly written SQL query can totally bring a website/sql server to its knees!"
And his favourite feature? Without hesitation. "If I had to choose one I'd say the reports are very useful indeed".
