Challenge

Fortune 500 companies rely on Cleo's products to help them successfully perform thousands of mission-critical business transactions everyday. It's estimated that as much as 70-80 percent of corporate information is still housed on mainframe computers. For more than 13 years, companies like Avaya have used the Cleo Host Interfaces to access this information. The IVR systems that integrate Cleo’s products allow a user to check bank account information or book an airline flight and must reliably supply critical data rapidly and efficiently. Cleo’s customers want assurance that solutions are tested for the load they will bear in practical applications.

Solution

After trying to write their own load testing program and reviewing several other options, including an expensive hardware model, a partner recommended that Cleo review Paessler’s Webserver Stress Tool (WST). WST’s easy to use application provided the capabilities they needed at an affordable price, saving the team time which would have been spent developing their own application and allowing them to focus on other priorities.

Cleo Communications software engineer, Ann Marie Manzitti Steichmann, is part of the team developing Cleo Communications’ Transaction Processor and Transaction Designer products. “Without being able to test these solutions and give specifics on the number of transactions they can process, we would not be able to provide valuable marketing information for them or assure customers they were reliable,” she says.
